Yes, it does
non smoking, yet izakaya is a type of drinking establishment so its not the best environment for children
Yes, sure.
Book in advance (maybe 2 days normally) as it is a very small bar and very limited seating as per izakaya tradition.
Great place, very welcoming with excellent food. It was nice meeting the owners who spoke English and French fluently, which was a nice surprise in our trip. I highly recommend the nabe (hot pot) who is served with fresh handmade noodles.
A little expensive but worth it.Kind staff serves delicious food to you.Just have a drink especially ordering the draft, you will enjoy the rest of traveling there.
Love this place. Had some sashimi too. Food is delicious and fresh. Good price too. Well done Chief! :)
Food was wonderful. The shooter with the magnificent shochu, seared tuna with salad, the oyster hotpot, the sashimi with black truffle oil, beef with lettuce were all beautifully balanced in their tastes. Our family enjoyed the food and would highly recommend the restaurant. Thanks Chef for a good meal. Continue your love for travel and come back with your own interpretations of the different countries' cuisine
Easily one of the best meals we have had in a while. Highly recommended! They have an English menu and the owner speaks perfect English so no problems for tourists at all. Reservations recommended as it's a small outfit.
This place is incredible!! Highly recommend. The main guy here was hilarious and very entertaining. we actually came back in the same night for round 2 because of the quality food and service. Do not skip on this place!
One of the best places to eat here at Mt. Fuji. The chef/owner was a pretty cool dude and definitely adds to the overall dining experience. The food was delicious, we ordered pretty much everything off the menu and still want more after we finished. It's a pretty small place so if you come late, he might run out of the dish you want!5/5 would come again. Highly recommend.
Fantastic food from an eclectic, unconventional izakaya menu that incorporates non-Japanese influences alongside local classics. Everything was fresh & tasty, service was great, and the owner/chef is a friendly, energetic guy who told us all about the food and his own global story. Small space, friendly vibe, would totally eat here again!
Best dining experience in Japan. Amazing food and sake. Perfect service. A one man operation that must be seen. I miss it already.
Awesome place. A blend of east and west in a little izakaya near Mount Fuji. The chef Go is super interesting, well travelled and is on point with his sarcasm/jokes. Give it a try and you will be pleasantly surprised but don’t look for a “traditional†experience by any means. Try to go early if possible as the place fills up with reservations 6:30pm onwards.
We took the chefs selection for good, the sashimi plate. It was absolutely world class! They suggested a plum wine and a Shouchu which were both equally as good. Highly recommend this surprisingly fantastic joint!
Place was kinda cramped. Amazing salmon sashimi. Nabe hotpot and the baby back salmon were unfortunately, way too salty. Attentive service though.
We had a fantastic time at this great, atmospheric, and delicious Izakaya. The owner was friendly and made us feel so welcome and comfortable. The food was spectacular and was quickly prepared and served with a smile by all the staff. I wish we could return, and I will be recommending this brilliant place to my friends and family. We definitely left in ‘High Spirits’. Thank you for a special night that we won’t forget.
Very good Izakawa with some creative dishes. Service is very kind and timely. Environment is cozy but not elegant
This man is an absolute genius! The menu is fantastic and interesting! We went back two nights in a row to try (almost) every single item. Sashimi Shooters and Truffle Sashimi were unreal, and the braised pork was a no brainer. The main chef is incredibly friendly and has a great sense of humor. Don’t expect your typical restaurant/fast food service. This place is meant to relax, chat, and enjoy a wonderful meal.
An intimate, friendly space with great food and even better sake. Excellent service whether you're speaking Japanese, English, German or Russian (all of which we had arrive while I was there!)The menu is a mix of traditional Japanese dishes and American fusion (pork tacos, baked potatoes, etc). The sashimi platter is excellent.
Great food. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.
Really cozy and local Japanese casual restaurant experience. The owner is friendly and speaks fluent English. We had the Chili Beef Lettuce wrapped with mint dip, Snapper Porridge and Snapper Porridge and it was delicious!! Especially warming on a cold day ^_^ Definitely recommend!
Great place you would never expect. The food is simply amazing and the staff is awesome. Easily the best dinner we have ever had in Japan so far. Worth to come in this village only for this.
No doubt why this place ranks #1 on Trip Adviser! It’s a small cosy place run by only 1 guy who returned to Japan from the US. Food was great, some taste like Japanese home cooking, eg we tried his braised pork it was so good! You will be surprised how 1 guy can run a menu with quite some selection!
Delicious fusion cuisine with chefs from all over the world. Highly recommended and cozy place with great service too!! Would definitely come back again! :-)
Very good food and ambiance. We were a family of 4, and everything we ordered was very tasty. When we arrived, 100% of the customers were locals, so, definitely a really local place with local taste. This is clearly a family business, and the owners take really good care of the customers and the quality of the food and attention.
Nice laid back place to eat.Food was amazing
Top notch food. Japanese and European fusion. Amazing calamari and chicken dishes. Food and drinks well priced for such an amazing part of Japan. Kitchen and seating is very close quarter but awesome local vibe and decor. Solid 5 stars!!!
A great place, run by very welcoming people, and delicious food. The hotpot was excellent !
Nice small cosy izakaya place. The food is moderately priced and tastes good.
Fantastic food, especially the Fuji Koshu roast beef and baked potato slices with blackened miso butter and chives. Great ambiance as well.
Best meal in Japan hands down. Authentic Japanese cuisine in “izakaya†style (small dishes & drinks). Highly recommend the A5 Fuji roast beef, sashimi, braised pork, and seared tuna salad. Foreigners friendly with English menu is a big plus.
This is the BEST izakaya in all of Fuji Kawaguchiko. Eclectic mix of French/japanese cuisine. Not a big menu but everything is oishii!! Amazing drink selection and the vibe is cowboy bebop-ish super dope and unique floor seating with the saizu chairs available. Of course theres tables and outdoor seating as well. Met some amazing people here and the owners suyoshi san and his wife were so cool, down to earth and speak english really. Well. If your visiting Fujikawaguchiko DO NOT miss out on this hidden gem. ã‚ã‚ŠãŒã¨ã†!!!
It was... weird. My buddy was hyped to go to this place and had a bunch of pictures from his trip last year. The food we got was about half the portion size from his pictures. The staff also didn't talk- not to us (aside from ordering) and not to each other. Like, they didn't talk at all for a straight 45 minutes. I even tried starting conversation a few times and no dice. Without the atmosphere it's just kind of a really expensive sit-down place. Maybe we just hit a bad day? I got nothing.
Never have I had a such a fantastic experience at this restaurant. If you're in the area and need a place to eat, go here. I promise you won't regret it. I will definitely be back.
Put an excellent polyglot chef, his Greek/Japanese team and a bunch of international travellers on 8 square metres and add divine ingredients. âââââ Not sure you can book but the wait is always worth it. Have the sashimi, the tuna, everything else and then the sashimi again.
Yes! We have a great dinner there! Professional front staff service! Delicious Dishes! Acceptable Prices! If you are around, must try it!
Average Fusion Food but great conversations.Recommended for Groups and Families.
Local restaurant. You can find authentic Japanese homemade tastes here. The owner doesn't speak English well but she was very friendly.
All the food was amazing! Japanese food with a twist. Friendly, good spirited host. Come early to avoid missing out.
Amazing little gem of Kawaguchi for a cozy dinner! It's an one man band by the owner who is friendly, passionate and super efficient. Food is awesome with slight alternation from traditional Japanese dishes. Recommend the chili beef wrap and cucumber with salted kelp. Collection of umeshu and sake is also impressive. If you prefer a relaxing dinner more than those touristy places, this is where to go. Come early if you can as the small restaurant fills up quickly!
Highly recommend restaurant. Cosy and nice. All the dishes are great. Owner can speak well English and he will cook whatever he think and serve you nicely. Friendly staffs and delicious food.
Loved the place. Small and cosy, food is really good. The service great. Had a really good time!!! Thank you!!!
Even though it was really cold outside (7-8C), we had a great night. The food was very good and the drinks were quickly served. The staff was also very friendly, and they speak English very well! I very much recommend this place for a great night eating out!
Amazing food and especially the mackerel sashimi is a must try ... seaweed salad also another hit ....
We let the owner make us a bunch of different dishes and they were all amazing! Fun atmosphere, great drinks, friendly service.
Absolutely amazing small plates. Not a bad item on the menu! Get there early though ... when things sell out, you're out of luck ;)
I found the food quite wonderful here actually. I wasn't sure if the staff were the owners but they all spoke English fluently, since none seemed native to Japan. I do like going to izakayas but admittedly this was my first in Japan. Other reviews have commented on the Japanese - Western fusion of the cuisine and that's probably why I liked it.
I love this place.. the chef learned English and is fluent with it. I ordered Omakase and am surprised by his skill and talents as a chef. The food is great! I love how the environment is comfy, but there are only 30 seats. It's WORTH the wait. This place is cosy with a nice ambiance. I highly recommend this place. To the owner, I rarely give 5-star ratings, and I feel you really deserve it. Keep it up!
We loved this place so much we went twice (and plan to come back on future visits). Very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The chefs were brilliant and friendly to boot. To eat we had sashimi - which was our favourite - and also calamari, tofu steak, kimchi, eggplant, potato with miso butter, tempura and the desserts of the day. Of course we drank plenty too - beer, warm sake and a selection of plum wines! We got there close to opening times to ensure we got seats. Go and enjoy ☺ï¸
Totally delicious! Very friendly chefs and place. Food was fresh, quickly cooked and really tasty. We ate calamari, fish and chips, and potatoes with miso, fried tofu and other side dishes. The place was very small, but we were lucky enough to find an available table. Prices are fair and the dishes really unique.
